An avid hunter for four decades, Mike Joyner has found his place among the great forests, and especially those of his beloved turkey woods over thirty-one years ago. He began deer hunting with a bow, and small game back in 1985. It wasn’t until he heard the massive gobbling of a flock of gobblers disrupted and scattered by incoming deer hunters one very cold morning during late deer season that gave cause to pursue the wiley wild turkey. His passions for a time-honored pastime have created a lifelong bond with the deeply wooded ridges and favored haunts from his home in New York and across the hills and woodlands of North America
The following year- May 1993 was his first season, and he never looked back. Since then, Mike has pursued his favorite game bird in 17 states, achieving two wild turkey grand slams, and a top twenty NWTF scoring gobbler in his home state of NY.
A former president of the New York State Outdoor Writers Association, Joyner currently serves on its Board of Directors. Mike is also a former president of the New York State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Joyner also served on its Board of Directors from 1996 to 2005.
