Preston Cooper and Lil’ Jim Balley have been childhood friends as far back as they can remember. They hunted entire seasons together, spring and fall. They held high regard for the turkey woods and all the creatures that lived there, especially wild turkeys.

Daybreak had just begun to peek over the horizon, casting a soft light, enough to make out the well-worn path. Preston and Lil’ Jim made their way through the familiar turkey woods, their footsteps fell quietly along a long favored approach. They had risen well before, eager to begin their hunt. But today was different. As they ventured deeper into the forest,

something was awry. The awakening forest seemed eerily quiet as if the very air whispered of impending doom. And then they saw it. A sight that would forever haunt their dreams...

Hanging limply, flopped over the branches of a mighty oak, a flock of wild turkeys, lifeless, their feathers matted with blood. It was clear they had been subjected to unspeakable horrors; their lifeforce cruelly snuffed out. A fierce anger instantly burned within Preston and Lil’ Jim.
